1. Envoys of Six Nations Present Credentials to the President of India

Context

  • Diplomatic relations are formalized through the presentation of credentials by foreign envoys to the host country’s head of state.

Content

On May 29, 2025, President Droupadi Murmu accepted credentials from the Ambassadors/High Commissioners of six countries at Rashtrapati Bhavan:

  • H.E. Ms. Chavanart Thangsumphant, Ambassador of Thailand

  • H.E. Mr. Nestor Gabriel Baltodano Vargas, Ambassador of Costa Rica

  • H.E. Mr. Gurdip Bath, High Commissioner of Saint Kitts and Nevis

  • H.E. Mr. Ali Murat Ersoy, Ambassador of Turkiye

  • H.E. Mr. M. Riaz Hamidullah, High Commissioner of Bangladesh

  • H.E. Mr. Azamat Yeskaraev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan

Significance:

  • Strengthens bilateral relations and international cooperation.

2. ECI Begins Training of 373 Grassroots Election Functionaries from 4 States

  • The Election Commission of India (ECI) is enhancing the capabilities of grassroots election officials through comprehensive training programs.

  • The ECI commenced its eighth batch of training for Booth Level Officers (BLO) Supervisors at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi.
  • A total of 373 participants from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Haryana are undergoing training to ensure adherence to electoral laws and procedures.
