WaveX Accelerator Platform: Empowering India’s Creator Economy

WaveX is the dedicated startup accelerator under the Ministry’s WAVES initiative to nurture innovation in media, entertainment, and language technology.

Secretary I&B, Shri Sanjay Jaju, inaugurated a landmark meeting with AI/ML startups and technology incubators at T-Hub, Hyderabad.

The meeting saw participation from T-Hub startups, IIT Hyderabad, NITs, and active engineering innovation cells, reinforcing a robust ecosystem for AI innovation.
Two Landmark Challenges Launched
1. Kalaa Setu Challenge

Aims to spur AI startups to develop scalable, indigenous solutions for generating audio, video, and graphic content from text in multiple Indian languages.

Focuses on:

Text-to-Video: Creating region-specific video content automatically.
-
Text-to-Graphics: Generating infographics and illustrative visuals.
-
Text-to-Audio: Producing emotion-rich, context-aware speech in vernacular accents.

Practical applications include tailored communication for farmers, students, and senior citizens in their native language, thus enabling last-mile information delivery.
2. Bhasha Setu Challenge

Seeks real-time AI solutions for translation and transliteration to facilitate instant multilingual information exchange.

Open to startups at any stage—encouraging both open-source and proprietary solutions if they remain scalable and affordable.

Deadline for prototype submission is 22 July 2025 for Bhasha Setu, and 30 July 2025 for Kalaa Setu via the WAVEX portal.
Incentives for Startups

Finalists will present before a national jury in New Delhi.

Winners secure:

MoU for full-scale solution development.

Pilot support with AIR (All India Radio), DD (Doordarshan), and PIB.

Full incubation under the WAVEX Innovation Platform.
